Travelling to La Gomera

From previous experience it is best to try and get an early morning flight to Tenerife South to arrive by midday. This will then give you enough time to catch one of the ferries from Los Cristianos to San Sebastian (the capital of La Gomera) or directly into Playa de Santiago. Ferry times can vary according to the season, so please check with the ferry companies to confirm departure and arrival times.

Arriving at Tenerife South airport, pass through the customs hall you can head for the taxi rank (lots of taxis always available) and ask the taxi driver for ‘Puerto Los Cristianos’. The taxi ride will take about 20 minutes. Alternatively you can pre-book the airport shuttle (ResortHoppa) which takes about 30 minutes. On arrival at the port, head for the port office which houses the boooking offices for the ferry companies – where you may be asked to produce your passports when paying for your tickets - and book the ferry for Playa de Santiago On the Olsen Benchi Express hydrofoil there is plenty of space for luggage. The larger ferries have dockside containers for luggage which will be unloaded after the ship has docked.. Once on board any of the ferries you will find excellent seating and a well stocked bar. The larger ferries (to San Sebastian only) have a gift shop.

The journey takes about one hour to San Sebastian. The smaller Olsen Hydrofoil (Benchi Express) goes to San Sebastian and on to Playa de Santiago and Valle Gran Rey. If you decide to take the larger Olsen ferry you dock at San Sebastian, collect your luggage and you then have the choices of hiring a car on the quayside (prebooking strongly recommended), taking a taxi or catching a local bus to Playa de Santiago. The drive by car or bus will take about 45 minutes, The apartment is situated on the sea front in a small apartment building called Las Vistas on Avenida Maritima.
